Untitled.  1967    by A A Almelker
gouache on paper
23.5 X 24.0 in. (59.69 X 60.96 cms)

A A Almelkar
1920 - 1982

Born in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in 1920, A A Almelkar received art education privately in Bombay and subsequently enrolled at the Sir J J School of Art for academic training. He won many prizes at exhibitions organised by Bombay Art Society and national art institutions. A widely appreciated artist in his lifetime, Almelkar had more than forty solo shows of his works in various places in India. The calm and serene ambience of villages , the men and women in the original settings, market and ordinary life are high points of his works. The indigenous technique used by Almelkar was a thin brush using black waterproof Indian ink, to give a finishing touch and bringing a sinuous quality to the work. Almelkar mostly used thin brushes and black waterproof ink for outlines and finishing touch. The lines in his paintings are bold, lyrical and sensitive.. The color combinations in his paintings are fresh and appealing, harmonises in varied, rich and illuminating hues. The influence of Indian miniature and mural styles are quite evident in Almelkar’s painting where the emphasis on eyes and facial expression are remarkable. Almelkar received National Award in 1960 including 20 Gold and 24 Silver Medals. He was also extensively published in several leading magazines like Dharmayug (Hindi), Kirloskar, Manohar, Mouj (Marathi), Prajavani (Kannad), Hindustan, Janashakti, Sandesh (Gujarati).

The fingerprints of Adolf Eichmann

Nails of the Cross

The film, 'The Nails of the Cross' by Simcha Jacobovici, follows three years of research during which he presents his assertions - some based on empirical data, others requiring much imagination and a leap of faith.
He hails the find as historic, but most experts and scholars dismissed his case as far-fetched, some calling it a publicity stunt.

Many ancient relics, including other nails supposedly traced back to the crucifixion, have been presented over the centuries as having a connection to Jesus. Many were deemed phony, while others were embraced as holy.

Mr Jacobovici, who sparked debate with a previous film that claimed to reveal the lost tomb of Jesus, says this find differs from others because of its historical and archaeological context.

Ivan Bunin

Director Dmitry Krymov shows the dark reality of love in his inventive new production at the Meyerhold Center.

Krymov is a chameleon of a theater artist. If I think back over the major productions he has created for the School of Dramatic Art — “The Demon: A View From Above,” “The Cow,” “Opus No. 7,”
“Tararabumbia” and now “Katya, Sonya” — they come at me from different directions at different speeds.

All are unified in their inventiveness, their uncovered use of the tricks of the trade — such as painting, sculpture, light, space and makeup — but the end results are quite diverse.

The elegant, grandiose procession of “Tararabumbia” is diametrically opposed to the marvelously chaotic and intimate “Demon.” The childlike “Cow” is unlike the exquisite complexity of “Opus No. 7.”

“Katya, Sonya” also differs from Krymov’s previous shows because it was created for a different space, the hall at the Meyerhold Center. The stages Krymov uses at the School of Dramatic Art are unique to that theater alone. The Meyerhold stage is a generic modern black box, and Krymov uses its every advantage to the fullest.

Faberge Eggs

Faberge’s “Standart” yacht egg is one of six eggs featuring in the exhibit.

The 10-centimeter-tall bejeweled eggs, some containing tiny gold ships, go on display beside a marble sausage made in the 1930-40s, evoking the hungry years of the Soviet era.

“All of the works at this exhibit are historical, representing the lifestyles of certain periods in Russia,” Tatyana Muntyan, curator of the Faberge Collection, told reporters in a bell tower chamber within the Kremlin Museums.

Faberge-designed gem flowers that once adorned royal cloaks, mini sculptures of soldiers who served under 18th-century Empress Catherine the Great and an ashtray in the shape of a hammer and sickle all feature at the exhibit, which has items from 17 Russian museums as well as private collectors.

The Carl Faberge firm was founded in 1842 in Russia’s imperial capital St. Petersburg and instantly gained fame after Russia’s tsars snatched up the eggs and jewelry.

Change.org......Ai Weiwei

Attackers use distributed denial of service attack to bring down
the world’s fastest growing social action platform after more than 90,000 people in 175 countries call for release of Chinese dissident artist.

Chinese hackers temporarily brought down the world’s fastest-growing social action platform after more than 90,000 people in 175 countries endorsed an online call for the release of internationally acclaimed Chinese artist Ai Weiwei.

Weiwei, best known for his role in the construction of the Beijing Olympic stadium and his recent Sunflower Seeds exhibition at the Tate Modern, has become an increasingly outspoken critic of the Chinese government in recent years, in particular over the handling of the 2008 earthquake in the country’s Sichuan province.
The cyber attack on Change.org follows the viral success of a petition calling for Ai Weiwei’s release by leading global art museums, including the Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Tate Modern, London, as well as the Association of Art Museum Directors. The campaign is attracting more than 10,000 new supporters a day and is now the most popular international campaign on Change.org, the world’s fastest growing activism platform with some 3.5 million monthly visitors.

Vladimir Nabokov

....Speak, Memory, Nabokov writes, “From the age of seven, everything I felt a connection with a rectangle of framed sunlight was dominated by a single passion. If my first glance of the morning was for the sun, my first thought was for the butterflies it would engender… I have hunted butterflies in various climes and disguises: as a pretty boy in knickerbockers and sailor cap; as a lanky cosmopolitan expatriate in flannel bags and beret; as a fat hatless old man in shorts.”

Explanation: If not perfect, then this spiral galaxy is at least one of the most photogenic. An island universe of about 100 billion stars, 32 million light-years away toward the constellation Pisces, M74 presents a gorgeous face-on view. Classified as an Sc galaxy, the grand design of M74's graceful spiral arms are traced by bright blue star clusters and dark cosmic dust lanes. The above image covers half the width of the full Moon and was obtained using 19 hours of exposure on the 1.23-meter telescope at Calar Alto Observatory in the Sierra de Los Filabres mountain range in Spain. Spanning about 30,000 light-years across the face of M74, it includes exposures recording emission from hydrogen atoms, highlighting the reddish glow of the galaxy's large star-forming regions.

Birth Chart

Ascendant: Libra    Sun sign: Pisces             Moon sign: Virgo
Mars sign: Aries     Mercury sign: Aquarius    Venus sign: Aquarius

How others see you, Your Ascendant
People are attracted to you like bees are attracted to flowers! You don't even have to try—
you're just that charming.
Blessed with social grace, you have no social equal.

With your eye for beauty, you know what looks good and what's missed the mark in matters of dress and
décor. Your particular gifts may lie in music, art, or literature but for sure lie in diplomacy!

Though you occasionally need rest and seclusion to recharge your batteries, you generally aren't big on
solitude and prefer to have a pal or a partner in work and play. And you'll never lack for one for long with
your natural graciousness and flair for the romantic.

Your Ego - Your Sun Sign
The last sign in the Zodiac, you've seen it all. So if you view the world through rose-colored spectacles, it's
because you've learned it looks better that way.

Sensitive to what others are feeling, you have a kind of knowing. Whether through precognitive dreams or
just a feeling, you're intuitive to the point of being psychic. So when you tell people not to travel on a certain
day, they should stay home.

With your Sun in Pisces, you're gifted in creative endeavors. So if your lack of worldly ambition means you
never headline at Carnegie Hall, hang your collection at the Museum of Modern Art, or win the Pulitzer, it
won't be for lack of talent.

Your Personality - Your Moon Sign
Your particular take on the chaos theory is that everything is in chaos until you put it in order.
Others may like order, cleanliness, and routines, but you need these. They give you peace of mind.
When you do a hurried job that to you seems sloppy, others marvel at how well you've done.
For you, it's important to not only do the right thing but to do it perfectly. So hard on yourself!

Everybody gives advice, but yours is so good you could charge for it. Your Moon in Virgo gives you
an innate talent for comforting others and providing practical advice, so it's no wonder many Virgo
Moon Signs become counselors.

Your Intellect and Communication Style - Mercury
Ideas come to you more quickly than you can catch them, much less act on them.
Inventive and ahead of your time, your Mercury in Aquarius makes you somewhat controversial:
you shake things up, rebel against the establishment. But you're a rebel with a cause.
A humanitarian through and through, you help those who but for you might not have a voice.

Your strong intuition makes you an excellent judge of character, and you don't judge others by
what position they hold but by what they're like on the inside.
Interesting, witty, insightful, you'll make an excellent public speaker or leader, inspiring others to
take up your righteous cause.

Your Relationships, Beauty, and Creativity - Venus
If you lined up everyone you've found attractive it would look like a United Colors of Benetton ad.
You're offbeat, quirky, and quite the individual. And that's what attracts you to others. You like
different. They don't have to look different, but they must think different. Just like you do.
You're attracted to people for their minds. If in the first five minutes, a potential romantic partner
doesn't say something interesting, you'll politely excuse yourself.

You can be faithful to one romantic partner if that person continues to grow and allows for your
many and varied friendships. And if you shock people with your romantic choice, that's all the
better for someone with Venus in Aquarius.

Your Passion, Drive, and Pursuits - Mars
H-O-T! People feel the heat when you're around! The fiery duo of Mars and Aries makes you a
charismatic and dynamic leader. You don't climb mountains--you blaze right through them.
Superheroes have Mars in Aries.

Your gift for stirring the passions of those around you allows you to get the job done before
others even know there's a problem. Your temper may flare up suddenly if someone or
something gets in your way, but it cools down just as quickly and your characteristic
optimism returns. And you're not one to hold a grudge--you've got better things to do
with your time and energy.

You're an exciting life partner, but you need someone who can keep up with you and allow
you to be your spontaneous and unhampered self.

A Concise Astrological Birth Chart Reading.

Books in Russia....

The first decade of the 21st century saw a sea change in the publishing business in Russia, with heavyweight publishers finally showing an interest in “serious” literature rather than just lucrative potboilers.

Most of these stalwart devotees are women, which is another major sign of the times. One of the most popular novels to be published in the past two years bore the symbolic title The Time of Women, and its author, the St Petersburg university professor Elena Chizhova, was catapulted to fame by winning the Russian Booker prize in 2009.

Women in Russia read more than men for many reasons. Housewives often have more free time to read. Plus, a majority of school and university teachers are women, and reading is an essential part of their job.
For a career woman, reading is important because, even in the world of literature, she tries to be head and shoulders above the men with whom she has to compete in the workplace.

Last Ten Days....

One hundred years ago Count LN Tolstoy fled his estate near Tula. In the middle of the night he left his house, accompanied by his personal doctor, Dushan Petrovich Makovitsky. It led to the death of one of Russia’s greatest authors, an event that would shake the world. This essentially personal drama heralded a catastrophic 20th century, as did the sinking of the Titanic, the start of the First World War and Russia’s October Revolution. Tolstoy’s journey from Yasnaya Polyana to the now famous station of Astapovo, to his death and return in a plain oak coffin to Yasnaya Polyana took all of 10 days. Let’s consider those days and how Tolstoy “left”…

How One Man Saved the British Monarchy....

The book, written by Mark Logue, Lionel's grandson, and Peter Conradi, recounts the real-life events behind the film, 'The King's Speech', starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter. What follows is an edited extract.

It was May 12, 1937, and the 41-year-old King George VI, father of the present Queen, was preparing for one of the most nerve-racking days of his life. He had acceded to the throne five months earlier after his elder brother, King Edward VIII, abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson, a twice-divorced American, plunging the monarchy into one of the worst crises in its history. Today, the reluctant monarch was to be crowned in Westminster Abbey.

The coronation, a piece of national pageantry unmatched anywhere in the world, would have been daunting enough for anyone, but King George – known to the royal family as Bertie – had good reason to be anxious: he suffered from a chronic stammer that turned the simplest of conversations into a challenge and a public speech into a terrifying ordeal. Words beginning with the letter 'k' – as in king – proved a particular problem: confronted with one, he would struggle to make any sound at all, leaving an awkward silence.

Despite the King’s misgivings, the coronation, followed by a live radio broadcast that evening heard by tens of millions of people across the Empire, proved a resounding success. He barely stumbled over his words. "The King's voice last night was strong and deep, resembling to a startling degree the voice of his father," reported The Star. "His words came through firmly, clearly – and without hesitation."

This success was due largely to one man: a self-taught Australian speech therapist 15 years the King’s senior, named Lionel Logue. Dismissed by the British medical establishment as a quack, Logue helped his royal patient conquer his speech impediment, turning him into a great monarch who, with his wife, Elizabeth alongside him, would become a rallying point for the people of Britain, and of the Empire, during the darkest days of the Second World War.

Life Path number 4

Life Path Number 4
(4 is the end number after adding only the date of my Birth Date, without month and year):

You are a trustworthy, practical and down to earth individual who places ethics above materialism and greed. You are a humanist at heart, and your life path focus is usually related to manifesting the greater philosophical ideals into practical reality. For this reason your expectations of yourself and others are unusually high.

You are a doer, more than a talker and nothing annoys you more than an individual that does not follow through on what he or she says he is going to do. You don't suffer fools gladly and have no problem swiftly eliminating people who you consider being a liability from your life. You especially have no tolerance for silly, neurotic or shallow people.

One of the problems of being a four is that you expect others to be of demanding of themselves as you are of yourself. It is painful for you to realize that others simply don't have the same perseverance, dedication and devotion to improving the world that you do.

Your incredible stamina, perseverance and will power allow you to accomplish ten times the amount of work that anyone else can in one day. Others often realize this about 4 and take advantage of your almost superhuman qualities. Your organization and planning skills are exemplary and for that reason you are a fantastic strategist, administrator, project manager. You are a perfect example of how "slow and steady wins the race."

However, it is part of your life path to learn how to delegate responsibility and let others take care of themselves every now and then! Many 4's are unhappy campers by the end of their lives simply because they chose the path of the hard-working martyrs while others reaped the benefits of all of their pioneering work. To avoid this you should always spare yourself the trouble of always making things right and let others be accountable for their own mistakes.

Often your tenacity and strong will is perceived as stubbornness.

You choose your friends and business partners wisely and function best in a team of two. You may have few close friends during your lifetime but the ones that you do have are loyal for life. You are dependable and trustworthy and more willing than most people to sacrifice what you have for greater good of all. Those who witness this are often touched by your kindness.

You are enraged by any type of social injustice and can be quite outspoken about politics, religion or ethics. Although your intentions are good, it is also one of your life challenges to learn to be tolerant of other's beliefs and opinions.

As the number 4 is associated with the earth element, you are the most grounded of all of the numbers. This makes you an excellent parent and provider. You also love animals.

Russians in USA

...In the world of art, the main seat of Russian influence is the Guggenheim. Moscow-based oligarch Vladimir Potanin sits on its board of trustees. So did socialite and developer Janna Bullock, until recently. Phillips de Pury, the world’s third-largest contemporary-art auction house, is now owned by the Russian luxury retailer Mercury Group. It is currently getting ready to move into a 25,500-square-foot space at 450 Park Avenue, to compete more directly with Sotheby’s and Christie’s—both of which have dedicated Russian-art divisions. So does Larry Gagosian’s empire, which has recently added a sophisticated operation devoted to Russian outreach.

Flower

Flower

Pluck this little flower and take it, delay not! I fear lest it
droop and drop into the dust.

I may not find a place in thy garland, but honour it with a touch of
pain from thy hand and pluck it. I fear lest the day end before I am
aware, and the time of offering go by.

Though its colour be not deep and its smell be faint, use this flower
in thy service and pluck it while there is time.

Number 9 and me...

Number 9 is the end number after adding all the numbers of my Birth name

and also the end number after adding all the numbers of all my names
(official name, birth name, nickname).

Expression of 9 ...
Potential Natural Talents and Abilities
:

The ultimate height of your personal expression in life is the chance to offer to others. You are spiritual in a very practical way and others are often drawn to your empathy and compassion. You work well with people of all ages but you particularly delight in inspiring creativity in children and young adults. For this reason you make a fantastic teacher, counselor or psychologist.

Others trust you implicitly because you are so kind, considerate and consistent. You are often the one that is still there when everyone else has abandoned someone for being a "lost cause." You are an extremely loyal and dependable friend.

You are a very intuitive individual who is deeply connected to others in a Spiritual way. Many nines are Prophets and Healers. You are deeply drawn to studying matters of the occult or religion. As you are so driven by your intuition, you are not often found in a day job but rather in an occupation that allows you to go where your heart leads you.

As others don't understand your idealism you might suffer a great deal of skepticism or criticism in your life. You may have also gained a great deal of weight that gives you the excuse not to have march in step with the mass population. Often these illnesses and personal problems exist in order to eventually to jumpstart a leap on the spiritual path to Enlightenment. Your trials and troubles often eventually qualify you as a "wounded healer" by the end of your life.

You are very concerned with the issue of how to express unconditional love. This is a very troubling concept for you as it is difficult for you to accept that one could love another so much and get no cosmic reward in return. This is the Universe's way of forcing you to connect with others on a Spiritual way rather in a way that is lustful or possessive.

Love is the most important thing in the world to you but you often have problems finding a soul mate. Many nines do not make good parents because they are too driven by impulse to be a consistent presence in a child's life.

You are very warm and friendly and almost all that meet you are immediately impressed by your gentle and kind personality. As the last thing anyone could ever call you is shallow, you sometimes don't pay that much attention to your personal appearance. Also putting other's priorities ahead of your own often leads to a great deal of self-sacrifice. One of your challenges is to make sure that you take time out to take care of yourself and your surroundings.

Creativity and art mean a great deal to you and many of you are great poets, musicians and artists. Art is an ideal way for you to express your love of harmony and the divine order of the universe.

Drinking tea...

Kill the Bacteria – Kill the Bad Breath
Drinking tea offers so many health benefits without any negatives plus it’s so much more affordable than these other products. The reason bad breath occurs is because bacteria grows on your tongue and gum pockets.

By drinking black or green tea in-between brushing your teeth, you can help solve your bacteria and plaque problems keeping those nasty smells away. There’s no need to spend a fortune.  People drink green tea with adding floavours such as lemon, grapfruit and pineapple.  You should also try matcha green tea powder.

Lemon Juice

Liver detox is just as important as detoxing any other organ in the body. Some people will buy colon cleansing formulas not realizing that you liver needs to be looked after too. Consider a natural detox.

One liver detox is by using lemon juice. Simply add the juice to a glass of water and sip it throughout the meal. This will help you stomach digest your food and prevent undigested food entering the blood stream. This syndrome is sometimes called a leaky gut. Your liver sees them as contaminates, food particles, even minute particles should not be in the bloodstream. Your liver filters them out. Improving the digestion process relieves the liver of this filtering load. This is a great liver detox.

Music by Stars

The Kepler space telescope measures the sizes and ages of stars five times better than any other means - when it "listens" to the sounds they make.

Bill Chaplin, speaking at the AAAS conference in Washington, said that Kepler was an exquisite tool for what is called "astroseismology".

The technique measures minuscule variations in a star's brightness that occur as soundwaves bounce within it.
The Kepler team has now measured some 500 far-flung stars using the method.

....dancing Stars

The graceful dance between three stars seen by the Kepler telescope has drawn the attention of astronomers because it is not accompanied by a song.
Most stars are known to generate great booming sounds in their interiors, and Kepler can spot the resulting change in the light that they emit.

However, astronomers reporting in Science say a red giant they have spotted is unexpectedly quiet.
